Man arrested after shooting injures 1 in Spartanburg Co.

SPARTANBURG COUNTY, S.C. (WSPA) – A man was arrested Thursday afternoon after one person was shot in Spartanburg County.

The Spartanburg County Sheriff’s Office responded to the 100 block of West Blackstock Road before 1 p.m. Authorities are currently at the scene gathering information and interviewing witnesses.

Deputies confirmed that one person was shot during the incident. Their condition remains unknown.

Further into the investigation, law enforcement identified 25-year-old Cristobal Avila as the suspected shooter.

Avila was detained in the area of West Blackstock Road. Due to suspicions of a possible drug overdose, Avila was taken to the hospital for treatment.

His condition remains unknown at this time.

The shooting remains an ongoing investigation by the SCSO.
