HSRZ: Week 2 Plays of the Week

(WSPA) – The second week of high school football left no shortage of amazing plays across the Upstate.

You can catch a full recap of the action and a look ahead to Friday night matchups on the High School Red Zone Review Preview show every Thursday at 8 p.m.

For a quick look back on some of the excitement Week 2 had to offer, check out the Plays of the Week below:

PLAY #5: DANIEL LIONS

The Daniel Lions took an early road trip to Columbia Thursday night to take on the Stratford Knights. Highlighted in the 52-36 win was a big fumble recovery, courtesy of a massive hit from Ayden Montgomery and the scoop from Jaiere Benson.

PLAY #4: UNION CO. YELLOW JACKETS

Union County’s Dreshawn Mills kept an impressive level of focus to regain control of a bobbled snap and take it to the house for the lone Yellow Jacket goal in their 52-6 loss to Fairfield Central.

PLAY #3: CHRIST CHURCH CAVALIERS

Christ Church’s Judd Windham showed off his focus when he went up to bring down a tipped pass for an interception in the Cavaliers 42-0 loss to Asheville School.

PLAY #2: MAULDIN MAVERICKS

Mauldin’s Reddick Langston kept the play alive and connected with Tamari Shepherd for a long touchdown in the Mavericks’ 31-12 loss to the Boiling Springs Bulldogs.

PLAY #1: JL MANN PATRIOTS

Finally, this is a play the Mann Patriots know well. A reverse flicker goes for six in the Patriots overtime thriller against Gaffney. The play involved quarterback McLeod Darnell, LaDainnian Martin, Keyshun Henderson and Toby Wilkins, who went in for the score. The Patriots went on to lose 42-40.
