FRANKLIN COUNTY, Ga. (WSPA) – Franklin County Schools announced that all schools will be closed Friday morning following online threats made towards the school district.

School officials said the decision was made to ensure the safety of students and staff of all FCSS schools.

The district released the following statement:

Due to online threats made directly towards The Franklin County School System late in the evening on Thursday, September 5, and out of an abundance of caution, all FCSS schools will be closed on Friday, September 6 for all staff and students.  We are working closely with local law enforcement and the GBI regarding this situation.

The incident remains under investigation by the Georgia Bureau of Investigations.
