UNION, S.C. (WSPA) – A 15-year-old student was arrested Thursday after officials found alcohol and two firearms in their car in a high school parking lot.

The Union Police Department said the Union County High School administration had a third party with the assistance of a canine come to the campus before 9 a.m. for detection purposes.

While in the student parking lot, the handler notified the administration that the canine alerted him about a white Toyota pickup truck. An administrator used the parking pass number to identify the student.

The student went to the parking lot and made contact with officials.

During a search, the administrator found one alcoholic beverage and two guns.

Officers said the student was arrested following the incident.

The items found in the juvenile’s car were recovered by the administration.

Union County Schools released the following statement:

During a scheduled k9 inspection at Union County High School, the dog alerted on a student vehicle located in the parking lot. Upon inspection, two pistols were discovered, a 9mm and a 22 caliber. We are grateful for our partnership with R.A.I.D. Corps who provide us with the inspections throughout the school year.

Guns and alcohol in a highschool kids car sounds like a typical day in the life of a highschool kid in the 80's.
