18-year-old shot at Upstate apartment complex

SPARTANBURG, S.C. (WSPA) – An 18-year-old was shot Thursday night at an apartment complex in Spartanburg.

The Spartanburg Police Department responded to Robert Smalls Apartments at 561 Wofford Street around 8 p.m. in reference to the shooting victim.

Upon arrival, officers located an 18-year-old lying on the ground with a gunshot wound to the chest. Witnesses reported to police that the teen was shot in the back.

The victim was taken to the hospital where his condition is unknown at this time.

Police said they are currently interviewing witnesses and possible suspect(s) but no arrests have been made.

Anyone with information regarding the shooting is asked to contact the Spartanburg Police Department.
