SPARTANBURG, S.C. (WSPA) – A man was taken to the hospital on Saturday to be treated for non-life-threatening injuries after being shot at an apartment complex in Spartanburg.

According to the Spartanburg Police Department, at around 11:37 p.m. Saturday, officers were called to the Sonic on East Main Street for a shooting.

On the scene, an officer found a man lying on the ground near the Sonic sign who was bleeding and complaining he’d been shot.

Employees at the restaurant told police the man showed up outside and began knocking on the doors to the restaurant. He reportedly asked to use the restaurant’s phone to call his mother and asked employees not to call police.

    The man’s mother called 911.

According to police, the man was shot at least half an hour before police were called at an apartment at 2096 East Main Street, then ran to the Sonic to phone for help.

The man told police he’d been shot by his ex-girlfriend’s new boyfriend at the apartment complex.

The man is expected to be okay. No information was given about suspects or charges filed in the shooting. We will update this story if more information becomes available.
