PICKENS COUNTY, S.C. (WSPA) – The Easley Police Department said they have been made aware regarding suspicious social media posts, regarding Gettys Middle School.

The Easley Police Department said that they are working closely with the School District of Pickens County and have thoroughly investigated the post, along with subsequent statements.

Principal of Gettys Middle School, Jacob Nelson, said in a statement that the posts currently circulating are not related to Gettys Middle School. Nelson also said that there is no credible threat to the school.

According to Nelson’s statement, the posts are images and messages that originated from Georgia and have been mistakenly included in local discussions.

Nelson said that if new information becomes available regarding the investigation, parents will be informed.
