ELBERT COUNTY, G.A. (WSPA) – A 14-year-old girl was arrested Saturday after a social media threat was made toward an Elbert County high school.

Officials with the Elbert County Emergency Services said around 4 p.m. authorities were made aware of a threat made via social media to Elbert County Comprehensive High School.

The Elbert County Sheriff’s Office responded to the student’s residence.

Law enforcement said the teenager admitted to investigators that she made the post on social media. The student was apprehended and charged with terroristic threats made against the school.

Officials said the teenager remains in custody at the Regional Youth Detention Center in Washington, Georgia.

The Georgia Bureau of Investigation was also contacted to assist with the incident.
