ABBEVILLE COUNTY, S.C. (WSPA) – Abbeville County School District said on Monday there is no danger to school students or staff despite a threat being made against a school in the district on social media.

According to the district, threats were made on social media toward an Abbeville County school and upon learning of the threat, district officials contacted the Abbeville County Sheriff’s Office, which began an investigation.

“After looking into this, no credible threat against any school in Abbeville County has been identified,” the district wrote on Facebook. “Unfortunately, these types of threats have increased in communities across our nation. Abbeville County School District takes all alleged threats seriously. Your child’s security and safety remain our top priority. As always, we encourage our students, parents, and community members to report any suspicious behavior or perceived threats to our schools and law enforcement.”
