    Spartanburg Co. shooting victim dies from injuries

    SPARTANBURG COUNTY, S.C. (WSPA) – A man injured in a September 5 shooting in Spartanburg County has died from his injuries.

    The Spartanburg County Coroner’s Office said 21-year-old Abel Arroyo Yanez died early Sunday morning at Spartanburg Medical Center.

    Yanez was shot along West Blackstock Road last Thursday afternoon.

    Deputies later took the suspected shooter into custody, identified as 25-year-old Cristobal Avila, according to a report.

    Avila was detained and later taken to the hospital for treatment of a possible drug overdose.

    The coroner’s office said they will rule on the manner of death in the case once all evidence is presented.

    The Spartanburg County Sheriff’s Office is investigating the shooting.
