CHEROKEE COUNTY, S.C. (WSPA) — Officials are working to identify a man whose body was found floating in a Blacksburg farm pond on Monday.

According to the Cherokee County Coroner’s Office, the man’s body was discovered laying face down in 18 inches of water at around 5:30 p.m., behind a home on Turner Road.

Coroner Dennis Fowler said a neighbor found the body.

No identification was found on the man’s body, who was only wearing boxer shorts.

“Fingerprints, dental records and other forensic methods will be used to assist in positive
    identification,” Fowler added.

Officials plan to perform an autopsy, but did not say when.

The coroner added that “specific attention” would be given to help determine if the man is the same Blacksburg man who went missing on August 31 .
