GREER, S.C. (WSPA) — Law enforcement and Greenville County school officials are investigating a case of harassment against Riverside High School students.

According to Riverside principal Darah Huffman, during cross-country practice, two males fired what is believed to be an airsoft or BB gun at students running through East Riverside Park.

According to the Greenville County Sheriff’s Office, one student was hit by a pellet from an airsoft gun and is okay.

Greenville County Schools said that the Greenville County Sheriff’s Office was notified and is investigating the incident.

“We are working with coaches and law enforcement to ensure the team’s safety during practice moving forward,” Huffman added.

The sheriff’s office said on Wednesday investigators believe two suspects were involved in shooting at the students, and no one was seriously injured.

Wednesday morning school enforcement investigators followed up on a tip which led them to one of the suspects, a 16-year-old student at Riverside High.

The students name has not been released because of their age, but the student has been arrested, the sheriff’s office said.

I've never played paintball but I imagine it's more violent than a 6mm plastic BB. Folks give it a rest.
