    Investigation underway after body found in Little Tennessee River

    MACON COUNTY, N.C. (WSPA) – A death investigation is underway after a body was found Tuesday in the Little Tennessee River in Macon County.

    The Franklin Police Department said before 8 a.m., two fishermen discovered a woman’s body in the river near the Macon County Greenway.

    The woman has not been identified at this time.

    Officers said the investigation is in its early stages and police are working to determine the cause and manner of the death.
