    Fatal collision in Cherokee Co. after driver struck fence post

    CHEROKEE COUNTY, S.C. (WSPA) – A driver of a 2011 Jeep SUV was pronounced dead after striking a fence post on Friday evening, according to the South Carolina Highway Patrol.

    According to S.C. Highway Patrol, the driver was traveling west on S.C. Highway 110, when they traveled off the side of the road.

    The driver had struck a fence post and overturned, according to highway patrol.

    The Cherokee County Coroner’s Office has identified the driver as Timothy Varner, 38,

    The coroner’s office said Varner was not wearing a seat belt at the time of the wreck and was ejected from his SUV.

    The S.C. Highway Patrol said that the investigation is ongoing.
