Man killed in Spartanburg Co. crash, car overturned

SPARTANBURG COUNTY, S.C. (WSPA) — A 65-year-old man died Friday night after being involved in a single-car crash on SC Highway 101.

South Carolina Highway Patrol said the crash occurred around 6:29 p.m.

A 2014 Honda sedan was traveling north on SC 101, near the intersection of Sharon Church Road. The car went off the left side of the road, hit a culvert, then a utility pole and overturned.

According to the Spartanburg County Coroner’s Office, the coroner responded to Spartanburg Medical Center to identify the man, who died at 7:36 p.m.

Officials identified the man who died as Lawrence Anthony Scott of Greer. The coroner’s office scheduled a forensic exam for Saturday.

Highway patrol is still investigating the crash at this time.
