GREENVILLE, S.C. (WSPA) – The Hispanic Heritage Festival has continued to celebrate and highlight the beauty of the culture for 25 years.

This year, crafts, music, and food filled Fluor Field. Organizers said that the event showcases 15 different Hispanic countries.

Hispanic Heritage month begins on Sunday, September 15, and each year the American Hispanic Women’s Association kicks off the month with the Hispanic Heritage Festival.

“We want to promote all of our diversity as Latins. We want to make sure the public understands how rich we are and to come and enjoy our delicious dishes, food, music and authentic crafts,” Patricia Vivas, with the AHAM said. “We can showcase our culture, so we have countries like Colombia, Peru, Mexico, Brazil, both central and south America and even some parts of Spain.”

There is a table for each country represented, where attendees can stop by and experience what the specified country is best known for.

Organizers said that this was the third year the festival has been held at Fluor Field.

The event proceeds go towards funding educational scholarships for Hispanic students pursuing higher education.
