Suspect in Greenville Co. murder captured in New York

GREENVILLE COUNTY, S.C. (WSPA) – An arrest has been made regarding the September 7 murder of Maria Hernandez in Greenville County.

Greenville County deputies identified the suspect as 38-year-old Alejandro Bautista Martinez.

Martinez had used a sharp object to stab Hernandez multiple times after a domestic-related dispute, investigators said.

Martinez and Hernandez had previously been in a relationship together, according to investigators.

Martinez was located on Friday in New York City by task force members with the FBI-NYPD. He was taken to the New York City Department of Corrections on Rikers Island, where he awaits extradition back to South Carolina on a murder charge.
