COLUMBIA, S.C. (WSPA) — The South Carolina Law Enforcement Division responded to dozens of school threats that have been made across the state on Tuesday.

SLED officials reported that more than 60 threats have been made across 23 counties, with 21 juveniles being charged in connection to said threats.

Two children were charged with making threats against a Spartanburg middle school Tuesday.

The agency said that many of the threats seem to have been shared through social media and digital messaging platforms.

Chief Mark Keel added that school threats are not a joke.

“Law enforcement takes every threat seriously, and everyone needs to understand that there are serious consequences,” Keel said.
