Around 8 a.m., the SC State Law Enforcement Division activated a Blue Alert for 27-year-old Alston Modlin who was considered to be armed and dangerous.

Officials said Modlin reportedly shot a McBee Police Officer during a traffic stop Thursday night near a high school in Chesterfield County.

The officer is at the hospital receiving treatment.

A few minutes later, officials located the suspect and a shooting incident took place. The Lee County Coroner’s Office confirmed that Modlin was deceased.

Modlin’s death remains an ongoing investigation at this time.

The Horry County Police Department was requested by SLED on behalf of the collaboration of the SCDNR and Lee County Sheriff’s Office due to the involvement of three agencies.

Oh, good thing the idiot was not in town. We know how the headlines would read.

I live right here where he was found dead. It may have been from his wreck or when he opened fire after the wreck on the law enforcement and was hit. Either way, this editorial is a thirst trap. A play on words to keep people reading, separated, and spitting venom.
