Man dead after Spartanburg Co. workplace accident

SPARTANBURG COUNTY, S.C. (WSPA) — A man died Monday morning in Lyman after a construction workplace incident.

According to the Spartanburg County Coroner’s Office, the death happened at a construction site on Gary Armstrong Road between 8:45 a.m. and 9:37 a.m.

Initial investigation revealed the man was operating an excavator near a retaining wall when the machine fell from the wall. The man was trapped under the wall.

The coroner’s office identified the man as 57-year-old as Kevin Neil Flynn of Laurens.

OSHA has been called to help in the investigation, the coroner’s office said.
