The City of Greenville said crews worked overnight from a microburst and severe thunderstorms to repair downed power lines and clear roadways. Officials said firefighters even performed water rescues.

Power lines are down throughout the city, officials said. Park crews identified over 25 trees down in Cleveland, Falls and Unity Parks along with the Swamp Rabbit Trail and Greenville Zoo.

The Greenville Police Department said officers have received reports of traffic lights going out intermittently and ask that drivers use caution when outdoors. Major roadways are cleared but there is still storm debris, police said.

Staff has blocked unsafe areas, cleared debris and removed damaged, hazardous trees.

According to officials, Tuesday’s storm is not connected to Hurricane Helene but officials said similar weather conditions are expected when the storm arrives over the next three days.

Duke Energy officials said power is expected to be restored around 11 p.m.

City officials said Unity Park, Falls Park and the Greenville Zoo are without power. The Greenville Zoo will be closed Wednesday as crews continue to clean up storm damage. All animals are safe and accounted for according to officials.

Greenville County said the administrative offices will be closed on Wednesday due to the outages.

Officials mentioned that emergency updates will continue to be provided as the city responds to the impacts of Hurricane Helene.
