LINCOLN COUNTY, N.C. (QUEEN CITY NEWS) — “It just didn’t seem real.”

Chasta Buff of Vale sat in her truck while scratching a $5 lottery ticket when she realized she uncovered a $200,000 top prize.

“For us, this is life-changing,” she said. “We really needed this.”

Buff wanted to make sure the Mega Bucks ticket was real so she went back to the Vale Mart & Hardware on N.C.18 in Vale, the store where she bought her ticket. She scanned the ticket and confirmed her big win.

She collected her prize at the lottery headquarters and after, required state and federal tax withholding, took home $143,001.

Buff says she plans to finally buy a house with her winnings.
