ROTHEFORD COUNTY, N.C. (WSPA) — Police are searching for a man who allegedly attempted to abduct a woman from her car in Black Mountain last week.

According to the Rutherford County Sheriff’s Office, the attempted abduction happened just before midnight September 17, at the intersection of Broadway Street and Sutton Avenue.

Deputies said a Hispanic male had entered the woman’s car and grabbed her from behind while she was driving. The woman then pulled into a Shell gas station on 202 NC Highway 9.

The male suspect immediately fled the scene on foot towards Sutton Avenue.

Officials reported that the suspect is younger and stands between 5’6″ and 5’9″ tall, weighing around 150 pounds. He also had long, dark hair and was wearing a trucker style hat with a tiger logo on the front.

Anyone with information about the attempted abduction is asked to call 911 immediately.
