(WSPA) – Laurens Electric said all of their substations are back online but 16,363 customers remain without power as of Friday.

The electric cooperative said they have restored power to 47,525 customers, or around 75% of their customer base, as of noon.

A total of 250 crews with 537 workers are currently restoring power across the company’s grid, including help from 17 states, with more arriving Friday.

Laurens Electric said the storm broke more than 500 power poles across their area. 180 of those poles had been replaced as of Friday morning, which the company said takes crews an average of two to four hours to remove and replace after trees are cut away.

They said no estimated times are available for when service will be restored.

Laurens Electric provides power to portions of Laurens, Greenville, Spartanburg, Anderson, Newberry, Union, and Abbeville counties.
