Man stabbed to death in Asheville identified, suspect arrested

ASHEVILLE, N.C. (WSPA) – The victim in a fatal stabbing in Asheville on Oct. 3 has been identified.

The Asheville Police Department revealed that 33-year-old Kendall Deangelo Gilliam was the man who was stabbed to death on Short Michigan Avenue.

7NEWS previously reported that 27-year-old Raqwean Jarrel Savage was charged with first-degree murder in connection with Gilliam’s death.

On Oct. 3, officers responded to the scene where they found Gilliam with fatal stab wounds.

Another victim was also found at the scene with apparent stab wounds to the neck. They were taken to Mission Hospital with life-threatening injuries.

Savage has also been charged with assault with a deadly weapon with intent to kill inflicting serious injury.

Gilliam’s death remains under investigation by the Asheville PD.
