OCONEE COUNTY, S.C. (WSPA) – A Seneca woman is behind bars following a burglary investigation late Saturday evening.

The Oconee County Sheriff’s Office charged 33-year-old Brittany Sue Hoke with first-degree burglary after reportedly entering a residence and refusing to leave.

An investigation was initiated when deputies responded to an address on South Walnut Street near Hope Avenue in regard to a report of a burglary in progress. Upon arrival, officials made contact with Hoke.

Deputies said Hoke provided authorities a fake name and refused to place her hands behind her back. Law enforcement eventually was able to place the suspect into custody.

The homeowners reported to deputies that Hoke was found in the bathroom of the residence and was asked to leave but she refused. It was reported Hoke left the scene when she heard sirens of deputies responding to the home.

The sheriff’s office also charged Hoke with resisting arrest, breach of peace and giving false information.

She was booked into the Oconee County Detention Center on a $11,552.50 bond.
