SPARTANBURG, S.C. (WSPA) – A man was arrested Sunday for allegedly assaulting a lineworker in Spartanburg.

The Spartanburg Police Department responded to Marion Avenue in reference to a disturbance with weapons. Upon arrival, a power company worker and many witnesses reported that a man approached the worker, pulled out a weapon and hit the worker on the forehead with the object.

It was reported that the suspect left on foot following the assault.

Officers circled the area and noticed a man wearing attire that matched the description of the suspect. He was later identified as 41-year-old Johnathan Parks.

According to the incident report, while driving by the suspect, Parks reportedly reached into his jacket pocket, removed a black object and pointed it at the patrol car. Officers exited the vehicle and commanded that Parks drop his weapon.

Parks was apprehended and police were able to identify the weapon as a pistol grip stun gun inside of a holster.

Authorities charged Parks with aggravated breach of peace.

He was booked into the Spartanburg County Detention Center with a $15,000 bond.
