Panthers add a former Clemson, Daniel DL, promote another

The Panthers announced Tuesday night they’ve signed former Clemson and Daniel defensive lineman Shaq Lawson, who spent last season with the Bills in his second stint with the team. Lawson’s played six of his eight NFL seasons with Buffalo.

The former first-rounder has 26 career sacks and has also been with the Jets and Dolphins, and had a training camp stint with the Texans.

A need was created when Jadaveon Clowney went down with a shoulder injury this past weekend against the Bears.

Carolina also elevated Lawson’s former Clemson and Daniel teammate, DeShawn Williams, from the practice squad. He played in two games earlier this season for the team after appearing in 16 last season.
