SPARTANBURG COUNTY, S.C. (WSPA) – Spartanburg District 4 schools will remain closed another day while crews work to clean up mold and mildew found inside school buildings.

Schools were closed on Wednesday after a substance like mold or mildew was found on multiple desks in a room at Woodruff High School, as well as some “additional areas.”

The school district sent a statement to parents and staff on Wednesday stating a third-party agent took samples to test air quality in each District 4 school, and a specialized cleaning company has been contracted to clean each school starting on Thursday.

“Because we have not completed the cleaning process and do not have the air quality test results, schools will remain closed for Thursday, October 10th and there will be no eLearning expectations,” the district said.

The district will provide updates as schools as to when schools will reopen as they are cleaned.
