SPARTANBURG, S.C. (WSPA) – Current SNAP recipients in the Upstate will automatically be issued replacement of some of their September benefits.

The United States Department of Agriculture approved the waiver request which allows the South Carolina Department of Social Services to automatically issue replacement benefits to current recipients living in counties where 50% or more of the total population experienced a power outage lasting more than four hours during Hurricane Helene.

SNAP recipients in 28 counties, including all Upstate counties, will be issued a replacement of 55% of their September benefits.

You will not need to apply to receive these replacement benefits.

The replacement SNAP benefits will be electronically added to EBT cards on or before Tuesday, October 15.

Here is the full list of counties where benefits will automatically be replaced:

    Abbeville Cherokee Hampton Orangeburg
    Aiken Chester Jasper Pickens
    Allendale Colleton Laurens Richland
    Anderson Edgefield Lexington Saluda
    Bamberg Fairfield McCormick Spartanburg
    Barnwell Greenville Newberry Union
    Calhoun Greenwood Oconee York

My snap increased $7Are you freaking kidding me what a joke. Yes, I’m grateful for what I get but damn.We are supposed to get 55% of what we got in September. so I should be getting an extra $68.75. We shall see all I seen is a seven dollar increase which is good so hopefully I’ll get the other. 🤷🏻‍♀️
