SPARTANBURG COUNTY, S.C. (WSPA) – Spartanburg School District Four said Friday that several schools will reopen Monday after air quality testing.

According to the district, two schools had elevated spore counts, indicating the presence of mold, and will undergo specialized remediation.

Air quality testing found elevated spore counts in two areas at Woodruff Middle School and one area at The Learning Center following high humidity and eight days without power following Hurricane Helene.

The district said all other schools and buildings, including Woodruff Primary School, Woodruff Elementary School, and Woodruff High School, had satisfactory air quality.

Those schools will return to a normal schedule on Monday, October 14.

District Four said they will be working throughout the weekend on remediation at Woodruff Middle School and The Learning Center and will provide an update Sunday afternoon on whether those schools will reopen Monday.
