TRAVELERS REST, S.C. (WSPA) – A former student-athlete is facing charges for reportedly violating the privacy of others while on the campus of an Upstate university.

According to the Greenville County Solicitor’s Office, Joshua Perry Harris was charged with two counts of peeping tom, eavesdropping or peeping and two counts of sex/voyeurism for his actions on the campus of Furman University.

Harris was a wide receiver for the Furman University Paladins from 2021 to 2024 according to the university’s website.

An investigation was initiated on Sept. 14. by the Furman University Police Department.

According to the arrest warrants, Harris willingly and knowingly placed a hidden video recording device in the campus bathroom/ changing room.

Officials said four victims, two male and two female, were captured unknowingly on the device. It was reported that the motive of Harris’s acts was to arouse and gratify the suspect’s sexual desire.

Furman confirmed that Harris is no longer a student at the university and did not graduate.

A Furman spokesperson said they were following Title IX procedures and would not comment further on the case due to privacy laws.

The case remains under investigation with the solicitor’s office.
