SIMPSONVILLE, S.C. (WSPA) – An Upstate woman’s fandom helped lead her to a $200,000 jackpot from a scratch-off lottery ticket.

The South Carolina Education Lottery said the woman was going to buy both a Carolina Jackpot and a Clemson Jackpot lottery ticket at the Walmart Neighborhood Market on Highway 14 in Simpsonville.

However, when she got her change back, she only had enough to buy one of the two.

That choice, she said, was easy.

“I’m a Carolina fan for life,” she told lottery officials before scratching the $5 Carolina Jackpot ticket and winning $200,000.

“I couldn’t believe it. It means even more to be a Carolina fan now,” she said.

Lottery officials said she planned to pay off her house and help others with the prize money.

Two more top prizes remain in the Carolina Jackpot game.
