    Election officials visit Asheville as early voting begins in NC

    ASHEVILLE, N.C. (WSPA) – State Board of Elections officials were in Asheville Thursday as North Carolina kicked off early voting for the 2024 general election.

    In-person early voting began Thursday at 419 sites around the state, including dozens in western North Carolina areas which were most affected by Hurricane Helene.

    Karen Brinton Bell, executive director of the NC State Board of Elections, and Corinne Duncan, elections director for Buncombe County, spoke during a news conference beginning at 1:15 p.m.
