LAURENS, S.C. (WSPA) – The Laurens Police Department announced that an ‘armed and dangerous’ kidnapping suspect has been arrested.

According to police, 26-year-old Jordan Trevion Sweeney was taken into custody Friday in Greenville County. An investigation was initiated on Oct. 19, when officers responded to a reported kidnapping in the city of Laurens.

Police said a violent abduction occurred, involving multiple handguns and threats to the lives of multiple victims. Further into the investigation revealed that Sweeney reportedly took a woman from the front yard of the residence before fleeing the scene.

The vehicle used in the kidnapping was located on Sweeney Road in Simpsonville where officers were able to rescue the victim. The suspect fled on foot, prompting a pursuit, police said.

Sweeney was located on Oct. 25 and booked into the Greenville County Detention Center.

Officials said details regarding the suspect’s arrest and charges will be released at a later time.

The incident remains under investigation by the Laurens PD.
