CLEMSON, S.C. (WSPA) – On Friday, the Clemson Police Department, with the assistance of SLED and the Greenville County Sheriff’s Office, announced they have located and arrested 36-year-old Ginger Gail Dreo.

Dreo was arrested in the Simpsonville area and was wanted for several burglaries that occurred in Clemson over the past several weeks.

Victims said they were suddenly missing rings, cash and other small memorabilia from their homes.

The search began when the Clemson Police department was called to respond to a burglary in progress on Aug. 2.

According to Clemson’s crime map , three homes sitting next to each other in the Crestwood Neighborhood were targeted.

“When we got there, we did a canvas in the neighborhood and learned that not only was she attempting to get into one house, but she actually gained entry into a couple of houses, and so we began our investigation,” said Jorge Campos, Clemson’s Police Chief.

K-9s from the Anderson County Sheriff’s Office were unable to locate her according to Campos. Search warrants were later put out for several of Dreo’s properties.

“Those search warrants revealed stolen items that were taken out of the burglaries, not only in the Crestwood neighborhood, but in a couple of other neighborhoods that were nearby,” said Campos.

Dreo is suspected in at least 11 burglaries in Clemson alone but Campos said he believe she’s responsible for even more burglaries across Oconee, Pickens, Greenville and Anderson counties.

“When we served the search warrant in one of the locations, we saw a bunch of guitars there, but we didn’t have any reports of the guitars being stolen,” said Campos. “The report came in after that, and we realized, ‘Okay, those are the guitars that we saw,’ and we were able to go recover those and then tie her to those.”

With the help of the public, Campos said law enforcement was able to eventually capture Dreo.

“We had neighbors that saw different things that looked a little out of the ordinary,” said Campos. “They reported to us, and then when we did the press release with the video, we had several people from the public call in.”

Dreo was booked into the Clemson City Jail and was denied bond. She was then transported to the Pickens County Detention Center.

As detectives investigate these crimes, anyone with information about Dreo’s activities for the past month is asked to contact Detective Tyler Owens at 864-624-2001 .
