Need a way to cool off this summer? The Big Chill is returning to Bailey Park. The ice cream-themed celebration will take place at the heart of Innovation Quarter on Saturday, July 20. You can expect live music, food trucks, face painting, and plenty of games from 3 p.m. and 6 p.m. The competitive community event benefits The Shalom Project, a local nonprofit working to meet the basic needs of underserved neighbors.

    How the contest works

Community groups will make gallons of homemade ice cream. A judge chooses which team takes home the title for best homemade ice cream. Attendees can also vote for their favorite ice cream by donating at that group’s station. The ice cream with the most money raised by the end of the event will be crowned the “People’s Choice” Award.
