HOMER N.Y. (WSYR-TV) — You ask, we answer!

Question: What’s being built near Homer High School and the I-81 on-ramp?

This plot of land that sits off of Route 281 the Village of Homer is owned by Family Health Network of Central New York.

Construction crews are working on a new medical facility that will be located behind Family Health Network’s current administrative and billing offices.

FHN’s CEO, Kim Osborne, told NewsChannel 9 that the new facility will offer Pediatric, OB-GYN services and same-day access for acute care to treat colds, flu and other illnesses and issues.

Osborne said when FHN purchased the 22 acres off Route 281 in 2016, the goal was always to move some of its Cortland area leased offices to the new Homer location. She described it as centrally located to the areas it serves and to Interstate 81.

FHN said construction began in April and they’re currently on schedule to open in the spring of 2025.

While you can see the new build off Route 281, Osborne said FHN patients will enter the Homer facility by using the drive near the NYSP barracks.

We’ll keep you posted on when it opens!
