Your Stories Q&A: Oswego County offering its own Park-N-Ride service to NYS Fair

OSWEGO COUNTY, N.Y. (WSYR-TV) — You ask, we answer!

We keep hearing from our viewers about the lack of Park-N-Ride options for this year’s NYS Fair when compared to the stops available before the COVID-19 Pandemic.

Since 2021, Centro has only offered 3 stops:

1. Downtown Syracuse transportation hub on South Salina Street
2. Destiny USA, Solar Street parking lot
3. Long Branch Park in Liverpool

Centro points to a lack of drivers and fair attendance being down the past few years, as reasons its not expanding its Park-N-Ride options. The transit company said its been able to meet rider demand with just the three locations.

Oswego County to offer its own Park-N-Ride

Due to high interest, Oswego County will offer its own free bus service to this year’s fair.

The Oswego County Department of Mobility Management is offering the shuttles.

According to a news release, Oswego County Public Transit buses will be available in Oswego and Fulton on Saturday, August 24. Then on the following Saturday, August 31, you can catch a bus from Central Square and Phoenix.

Oswego County posted the following information on its website :

The Fulton shuttle stop is at the local campus of Cayuga Community College (CCC), 11 River Glen Dr. on Saturday, Aug. 24. Departure and return trips are approximately 45 minutes each.

• Departure times from CCC are 10 a.m.; noon; 2:25 p.m.; 4:25 p.m.; and 6:25 p.m.
• Return trips leave the NYS Fair at 11 a.m.; 1 p.m.; 3:25 p.m.; 5:25 p.m.; and 8:10 p.m .

The Oswego shuttle stop is at the Oswego High School, 2 Buccaneer Blvd. on Saturday, Aug. 24. Bus rides are approximately one hour each way.

• Departure times from the school are 10 a.m.; 12:30 p.m.; 3:25 p.m.; and 5:55 p.m.
• Return trips leave the NYS Fair at 11:15 a.m.; 1:45 p.m.; 4:40 p.m.; and 7:55 p.m.

On Saturday, Aug. 31, a shuttle runs from the Central Square Walmart, 3018 East Ave., to the Three Rivers Plaza, 219 Co. Rte. 57, Phoenix, to the NYS Fair. Each trip is about an hour.

• Departure times from Central Square are 10 a.m.; 12:10 p.m.; 2:45 p.m.; and 4:55 p.m.
• Departure times from Phoenix are 10:40 a.m.; 12:50 p.m.; 3:25 p.m.; and 5:35 p.m.
• Return trips leave the NYS Fair at 11:20 a.m.; 1:30 p.m.; 4:05 p.m.; 6:15 p.m.; and 8 p.m .

The drop-off and pick-up location at the fairgrounds will be in the Pink Lot, near the Toyota Coliseum.
