UPMC opens new primary care office in Bedford County

BEDFORD COUNTY, Pa. (WTAJ) – UPMC Bedford opened a new office in Everett, in an effort to bring high-quality primary care to a rural area.

On Thursday, UPMC Everett Primary Care Group opened a new office located at 745 Raystown Road in Everett.

Torres’ Family Medicine-UPMC and George M. Zubak, MD-UPMC merged to create the new centralized location for primary care. The company said that the new, larger, state-of-the-art office adds increased convenience for patients.

“We actually have 11 exam rooms here. We have a procedure room. We have room for growth. We have a lab collection facility. So we have actually expanded our footprint to allow more patients to be seen throughout the community,” said Douglas Heusey, the Vice President of UPMC Bedford Administration.

Before they opened the new location, the company conducted a Community Health Needs Assessment. They discovered that access to primary care was a significant need identified.

UPMC also plans to add additional providers to the practice to further increase access to primary care in the county.

“It is rural, and it means a lot to both the residents of Bedford and Everett, which are both rural communities. We’re going to expand the other services that are here,” said John Blackburn, Board President of UPMC Bedford.

The office will open and begin accepting new patients on Friday, March 1.
