EBENSBURG, Pa (WTAJ) – Central Cambria and Huntingdon played arguably the most thrilling softball game of 2024. The two teams traded the lead four times in the final three innings, which included a walk-off winner.

After a scoreless start to the game, Huntingdon hit home runs in the fourth and fifth innings to give the Bearcats a comfortable 4-0 lead. In the bottom of the fifth inning, Central Cambria found its way on the scoreboard with an inside-the-park two run home run, which was jump started by an error.

The Bearcats added another insurance run in the top of the sixth inning to have a 5-2 lead. However, the Red Devils answered back in the bottom of the inning as they used a three-run home run and RBI double to take a 7-5 lead, their first of the day.

After Central Cambria walked a run in, Huntingdon trailed 7-6 with bases loaded in the top of the seventh inning. Alivia Nicklow capitalized on the situation with a grand slam, her second home run of the game, to give the Bearcats a 10-7 lead.

Central Cambria battled back once again as Keira Link hit a three-run homer to push the game into extra innings. Huntingdon was in position to win the game with an RBI single in the top of the eighth inning, but Central Cambria’s Rowyn Ruddek played the hero for her team by drilling a two-run walk-off winner.
