BLAIR COUNTY, Pa. (WTAJ) — Two weeks after the Blair County Children, Youth and Families (CYF) license was revoked by the Department of Human Services , the county is taking new measures to get it back.

At the Blair County Commissioners meeting on Tuesday, the commissioners voted to approve
a Settlement Agreement between the County of Blair, on behalf of Blair County Children, Youth and Families, and the Department of Human Services.

The 13-page document is to resolve the County’s appeal of the license revocation, for 24 months, pending the terms outlined in the agreement.

“One thing is developing a strategic plan of how to keep the agency in compliance with the regulations. So we’re going to go through a strategic planning process having consultants come in to help us through that process. With operations and processes and policies that may help the or that the agency achieve that,” Blair County Commissioner Laura Burke said.

After the agreement is signed, the county will be issued a license for 6 months, and they will be able to operate as they did before.

However, CYF would be under closer supervision than they normally would be for a provisional period, to ensure that the county holds up its end of the deal.

“There is a lot of work ahead of us in terms of complying with the terms of the agreement. So that is something that we all need to continue to take seriously and put some significant effort into making sure that we’re hitting all of the deadlines expected of us and doing all the things that the agreement requires. But it is definitely another step in the right direction for the agency,” Burke said.

The agreement and the 24-month period will only go into effect once it’s signed by the Department of Human Services.
