JOHNSTOWN, Pa. (WTAJ) — An Ohio-based cheesesteak chain is opening its first location in Johnstown later this year.

A building permit was issued to allow Charleys Philly Steaks to open in the Richland Town Center, according to our media partners at the Tribune-Democrat.

The cheesesteak franchise is known for its cheese, grilled-to-order steak and chicken subs. The location is being developed inside a Walmart SuperCenter restaurant space that formerly housed a McDonalds.

MORE FROM OUR MEDIA PARTNERS AT THE TRIBUNE-DEMOCRAT

Our media partners at the Tribune-Democrat said the permit was sought by a Mechanicsburg LLC and approved by Richland Township. The Ohio contractor Pettry Renovations will perform $152,179 in work to revamp the site.

According to the company’s website, the Richland Township location would be the only one between its current Westmoreland County eatery and the Harrisburg area.
