PA lumberjack championships to take place in Bedford County

BEDFORD COUNTY, Pa. (WTAJ) — The 9th annual Pennsylvania Lumberjack Championships and Outdoor Show will be taking place in Bedford and here’s what you can expect to see.

The championship will take place at Camp Living Water in Schellsburg from Friday, Aug. 9 to Sunday, Aug. 11. Lumberjack athletes from all over will be competing for the chance to win over $20,000 in prizes.

There will be a variety of food and craft vendors and it’s free to attend.

Here’s when events will take place:

Friday, Aug. 9

• Gates open (4 p.m.)
• Championship woodchopping and sawing qualifying rounds (5 – 6:30 p.m.)
• US Title Crosscut semi-finals (7 p.m.)
• US Title Crosscut finals (8 p.m.)

Saturday, Aug. 10

• Gates and vendors open (8 a.m.)
• Dr. Jacob Hershberger Memorial 5K (10 a.m.)
• Opening ceremonies (11:45 a.m.)
• Flight 1 Championship woodchopping and sawing (12 – 12:45 p.m.)
• Flight 2 Championship woodchopping and sawing (1:15 – 2 p.m.)
• Flight 3 Championship woodchopping and sawing (2:30 – 3:15 p.m.)
• Flight 4 Championship woodchopping and sawing (3:45 – 4:30 p.m.)
• Flight 5 Championship woodchopping and sawing (5 – 5:45 p.m.)
• Team Butcher Block (6:15 – 7 p.m.)

Sunday, Aug. 11

• Gates and vendors open (10 a.m.)
• Flight 1 Championship woodchopping and sawing semi-finals (12 – 12:45 p.m.)
• Flight 2 Championship woodchopping and sawing semi-finals (1 – 1:45 p.m.)
• Flight 3 Championship woodchopping and sawing semi-finals (2 – 2:45 p.m.)
• Flight 4 Championship woodchopping and sawing finals (3 – 3:45 p.m.)
• Flight 5 Championship woodchopping and sawing finals (4 – 4:45 p.m.)
• Awards ceremony (5 p.m.)
