CAMBRIA COUNTY, Pa. (WTAJ) — A Pennsylvania man is facing charges after he allegedly fled from police after they pulled him over for driving under the influence.

Christian Hauser, 49, of Cherry Tree is facing DUI charges after he allegedly drove off during a traffic stop, according to a criminal complaint. On Aug. 4, police were parked along Penn Street when they recognized a green Subaru. They noted in the complaint that they knew it was Hauser because he was arrested for a DUI the week before and had a suspended license.

Police wrote that they pulled out behind him and observed Hauser hitting both the yellow and white fog lines multiple times as he was driving toward Loretto. Officers then turned on their emergency lights and attempted to conduct a traffic stop.

According to the affidavit, officers approached the vehicle, asked for his ID and asked where he was coming from. Hauser allegedly handed over his ID and told them he was coming from the Penn Avenue Bar. He then reportedly told officers that he had five beers. Police noted he had slurred speech and smelled strongly of alcohol.

When police asked Hauser to step out of his car he then allegedly put it into drive and fled. He drove onto Plank Road and into Cresson Borough. Police noted he was traveling at high speed fluctuating between 70 and 40 mph. Hauser continued to flee from officers and reached speeds of over 100 mph.

Police eventually chased him to a parking lot on Beaver Valley Road, where he then came to a stop. Units surrounded the vehicle to prevent him from fleeing again and ordered him to get out of the vehicle. Hauser allegedly refused and had to be tased twice. Once police were able to get him out of the vehicle he was arrested. Police noted they could see an open Busch beer can in his vehicle.

Police also noted that during the pursuit, Hauser swerved all over the road, sometimes left the roadway entirely, passed multiple vehicles unsafely and failed to stop at stop signs or use turn signals.

Hauser was cleared by EMS and was then taken to Miners Hospital for a blood draw. Hauser gave consent for the draw and he had a BAC of .19%, according to the affidavit.

He is in Cambria County Prison with bail set at 10% of $50,000. Hauser is facing charges of fleeing, DUI, resisting arrest, recklessly endangering another person and multiple summary driving offenses.
