Free shredding event open to Cambria, Somerset residents

CAMBRIA COUNTY, Pa. (WTAJ) — State Representative Jim Rigby (R-Cambria/Somerset) will be hosting a free document shredding event for residents in the 71st Legislative District.

The event will take place on Wednesday, Aug. 28 from 1:30 to 4:30 p.m. at the Richland Township Fire Department (1321 Scalp Avenue). There will be a limit of four boxes and/or bags per household and the event is limited to residential customers only (no businesses).

“I am glad to be providing this opportunity for my constituents to safely dispose of documents containing personal information, like Social Security, credit card numbers and more,” Rigby said. “Sadly, scammers utilize the information found on personal documents. By shredding what is no longer needed, we can better protect ourselves from becoming victims of scams and fraud schemes.”

Attendees are asked to make sure that all paper and binder clips are removed before the event. Staples in documents will be accepted.
