Blair County Commissioners discuss adding rain garden

HOLLIDAYSBURG, Pa. (WTAJ) — The Blair County Commissioners have announced that they’re exploring the idea of adding a rain garden in front of the county’s parking garage.

They voted to submit a zoning permit to the Hollidaysburg borough for the construction of the rain garden along Mulberry Street. The garden would face the Blair County Prison. They say the garden will not only improve the aesthetic, but also prevent rain from washing out the gravel.

“This is a nice way of dealing with some of the rainwater. That should be an attractive addition to the area that kind of washes out sometimes I think,” Amy Webster, a Blair County Commissioner, said.

The commissioners also say that they have plans to explore adding rain gardens into other areas throughout Hollidaysburg.
