PITTSBURGH, Pa. (WTAJ) — The MLB Players Association (MLBPA) has filed a lawsuit against The Pittsburgh Pirates and one of their sponsors, Sheetz.

The lawsuit comes after a joint marketing campaign that featured the “image and likeness” of players wearing uniforms with a Sheetz logo on the left sleeve.

The MLBPA said the Pirates aren’t allowed to use three or more players in a campaign like this without a licensing agreement, WTAE in Pittsburgh reported .

Andrew Stockey reported via his X account that the union demanded the Pirates halt this practice and pay monetary damages to its players.

Pirates spokesperson Brian Warecki told WTAE that the team was “surprised” and has been in active discussions on the matter. He also claimed they reached a verbal agreement and expect the complaint to be withdrawn.
