JOHNSTOWN, Pa. (WTAJ) — The Bottleworks Ethnic Arts Center in Johnstown will be receiving funds to lead a public arts and activities project in Cambria County.

State Rep. Frank Burns (D-Cambria) announced that the $100,000 over four years will come from the Pennsylvania Council on the Arts (PAC). It’s part of the CREATE Public Art Initiative that works to engage local artists, residents and youth.

“Arts and culture account for more than $30 billion of our state’s economy, supporting more than 175,000 jobs,” Burns said. “By extension, this helps our regional economy and also contributes to our quality of life.”

The PCA added the project in the Cambria City historical district to its Creative Communities Initiative (CCI). As a place-based community and economic development project, PCA said it was selected for its innovative and comprehensive approach to addressing a variety of local challenges and opportunities.
