JEFFERSON COUNTY, Pa. (WTAJ) — A Brookville man is facing a felony charge after allegedly biting and punching an officer while drunk.

Frank Carrier, 43, was charged after police were called to a residence on Maple Street on Aug. 17 on reports of an unwanted person on the property, according to the criminal complaint. The caller told police that Carrier was allegedly screaming down the street at all his neighbors.

When police made contact with Carrier, they noted that he was noticeably intoxicated and smelled like alcohol. Carrier began shouting that his soul was not bound by any officers and was swaying back and forth, according to the complaint.

An officer told Carrier that he wanted to speak with him about his actions and he allegedly continued to scream that he did not want him on the property. Carrier then attempted to enter his residence, however, police followed him because they were worried about him picking up any knives or a bow and arrow that were in the living room.

Police attempted to stop Carrier from entering the residence any further, which is when he allegedly hit the officer in his face. Officers were able to get Carrier onto the ground, where he then rolled onto his back and hit the officer in the face again.

Police then tried to detain Carrier and he proceeded to allegedly bite the officer on his arm. Carrier was then taken into custody and taken to the police station.

Carrier is now facing three misdemeanor charges of resisting arrest, disorderly conduct and simple assault, a felony charge of aggravated assault as well as two summary offences of public drunkenness and harassment.

He is now in the Jefferson County Prison after being unable to post 10% of his $45,000 bail. A preliminary hearing is scheduled for Sept. 3.
